Breast-Conserving Surgery

- Segmental Mastectomy: Similar to a partial mastectomy, it removes the tumor along with surrounding tissue.
Lymph Node Surgery
- Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy: Removes the first lymph nodes where cancer cells are most likely to spread.
- Axillary Lymph Node Dissection: Removes multiple lymph nodes from the armpit.
Mastectomy
- Simple/Total Mastectomy: Removes the entire breast tissue, nipple, areola, and skin.
- Skin-Sparing Mastectomy: Preserves breast skin for reconstruction.
- Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy: Removes breast tissue but preserves the nipple and areola.
- Modified Radical Mastectomy: Removes breast tissue and lymph nodes.
- Radical Mastectomy: Removes the breast, chest muscles, and lymph nodes (rarely performed today).
Breast Reconstruction
- Can be performed immediately after mastectomy or later.
- Uses implants or tissue from other parts of the body.
